CATAMARANS
Catamarans were invented in the South Seas by Polynesians. They needed a fast and stable canoe that could be paddled or sailed inter-island. By adding an outrigger to their unstable canoe, it's stability was increased and the Catamaran boat was born.
Catamaran boats are the most stable of boats. By having the hulls under the beam of the boat, side to side rocking is decreased and the amount of deck cargo space is increased. MTX designs the largest useable decks in the industry.
Applying Catamaran hulls to the modern DeckBoat has been resisted in general by the boat business because this type of construction is more expensive than the standard vee hull DeckBoat construction.
In 1985, MTX saw an opportunity to "build a better mouse trap" and began construction of our Catamaran DeckBoat. By adopting data collected from offshore racing and combining asymmetrical technology to the catamaran hull, we created the first performance multifunctional DeckBoat.
